April 2026 update:
A change is coming soon to Pace's Rideshare Access Program (RAP).
- The number of TAP and RAP rides available to qualified ADA Certified riders is increasing from 30 to 40 rides per month per rider. An effective date for that change will be announced soon.
- This page will be updated once riders are able to apply online for this per-month ride increase.
- For riders who do not apply for an increase, the 30 ride-per-month cap will remain in place.
- TAP and RAP fares will remain at $3.25 per trip, equal to the ADA Paratransit fare.
- ADA certified riders can continue to ride free on CTA, Metra, and Pace fixed routes.
What is RAP?
Pace’s Rideshare Access Program (RAP) is a rideshare subsidy program for ADA-eligible riders choosing to use Uber or UZURV for same-day trips instead of using ADA paratransit services. RAP trip fares are $3.25 per trip (equal the ADA Paratransit fare) for up to $30.00 of rideshare value. A rider chooses to use either Uber or UZURV for their subsidized rideshare trips. As of October 1, 2025, riders are eligible for a maximum of 30 RAP rides per month (but see above for a change to that policy coming soon).
Enrollment in RAP does not change your ability to use Pace's traditional ADA Paratransit service. The fare on that service is also $3.25 per ride and eligible riders may take as many ADA Paratransit trips as they wish.
Who is eligible to enroll in RAP?
RTA-certified ADA paratransit riders are eligible to enroll in RAP if:
- their ADA certification will not expire within the next three months;
- they are not enrolled in Pace’s Taxi Access Program (TAP); and
- they have an account with Uber or UZURV|The Adaptive Transportation Network Company.
Enrollment in RAP is voluntary. Click the Uber or UZURV link for more information about each rideshare provider.
How does RAP work?
Eligible riders enrolled in RAP will pay the first $3.25 of the cost of a trip taken with Uber or UZURV if the origin and destination of the trip is within Pace’s ADA paratransit service area (i.e., ¾ of a mile from any Pace or CTA fixed bus route); Pace will subsidize the cost of the trip after the first $3.25 and not exceeding $30.00. Eligible riders will also be responsible for paying:
- any portion of the cost of the trip that exceeds $30.00;
- any rideshare provider surcharge applicable to the trip (e.g., advance booking surcharge); and
- any driver tip.
Pace will reimburse the rideshare provider for the subsidized portion of the cost of the trip.
Pace will subsidize no more than 30 trips per month for each eligible rider enrolled in RAP.
How do eligible RTA-certified ADA paratransit riders request enrollment in RAP?
To request enrollment in RAP, complete the RAP Enrollment Form below in its entirety and click Submit. Within approximately two weeks after Pace’s approval of a request for enrollment in RAP, the subsidy will be available in the enrollee’s rideshare provider account to apply to the cost of a trip at the time of booking.
RAP enrollees who allow someone else to use their RAP voucher are engaging in fraudulent conduct and will be terminated from RAP and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Questions regarding RAP should be sent to RAP@PaceBus.com.
