Job Description:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Department Manager, Chief Operating Office and Operations Development, serves as the direct supervisor of Chief Operating Office support staff. The Department Manager, Chief Operating Office and Operations development manages and coordinates work assignments and work completed by the direct reports to the Chief Operating Officer, including Fixed Route, Regional ADA Services (city and suburban), Vanpool, Contract Carriers, Maintenance and Safety, and Training and Security; coordinates new business within the Chief Operating Office such as new technology and new services, and relocation of departments; and is responsible for administrative assignments including procedures, reporting requirements, strategic formulation as well as budgetary responsibility and accountability. Essential functions include:
- Direct supervision of Chief Operating Office administrative staff.
- Assigning task responsibilities to direct reports of the Chief Operating Officer and follow up and provide status reports of the same.
- Managing coordination of projects among the Chief Operating Office, including Paratransit, Vanpool, Operations, Safety, Training and Security, Maintenance and Technical Services, as well as Pace’s nine Operating Divisions.
- Managing all correspondence, purchase requisitions, training of support staff, counseling staff when needed, developing job descriptions, managing and developing performance appraisals, administering discipline when necessary.
- Interviewing potential candidates for various positions within the Chief Operating Office.
- Representing the Chief Operating Officer at Meetings
- Assisting with the development of Chief Operating Office Operating and Capital Budgets.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Education:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field.
Experience:
Must have five to ten years prior experience in public transit operations and administration.
Certifications/Licenses:
Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Proficiencies:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and must be prepared to write documents related to job duties using the word processing applications. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of liaising between all levels within the agency.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office setting, where the candidate will be expected to sit for long periods of time, type on a computer, and attend meetings. The position requires travel to Pace operating divisions and offsite locations to meet business needs. This position is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. This position is not eligible for telecommuting or a hybrid work schedule.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods, lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
This is a safety sensitive position.
Salary:
Full salary range: $73,543 - $162,305
Midpoint: $117,924
Starting salary range: $95,734 - $117,924
