Route 543 and 603 Detour Update
Effective Friday, November 21, 2025
Due to continued construction activity on Dundee between Page and Plum in Elgin, Routes 543 and 603 will detour as follows until late 2026:
Route 543 Northbound and Route 603 Eastbound
• Dundee → Summit → Liberty (IL-25) → Dundee
• Buses will not serve Dundee between Summit and Page or
Page between Dundee and Liberty
Route 543 Southbound and Route 603 Westbound
• Dundee → Page → Liberty (IL-25) → Summit → Dundee • Buses will not serve Dundee between Page and Summit
On the temporary route segments for Route 543, bus stop signs will not be present. Riders can get on or off the bus at any safe intersection along those segments. On the temporary route segments for Route 603, buses will continue to operate express through this area.
Buses will detour until construction is complete and the roads reopen, which is expected to be in late 2026.
