ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL – In accordance with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Act, Pace Suburban Bus will hold public hearings on proposed programmatic changes to its Taxi Access Program (TAP) and Rideshare Access Program (RAP). These proposed changes, which are unrelated to the broader fiscal cliff, were included in the RTA’s recently adopted ADA Paratransit Action Plan and are intended to address a projected budget shortfall in 2025.
On June 12, 2025, the RTA Board of Directors adopted Ordinance 2025-26, which approved an ADA Paratransit Action Plan outlining several cost-saving measures. As part of this plan, the RTA has proposed the following changes affecting TAP and RAP:
- Capping the number of TAP and RAP rides at 30 per month per rider
- Increasing the TAP and RAP fares to $3.25 to align with the current ADA Paratransit fare
- Implementing free fixed-route rides on CTA and Metra for ADA-certified riders (Note: Pace implemented this change in 2024, so ADA-certified riders already ride free on Pace fixed route buses.)
