Job Description:
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Maintenance, or designee, the Assistant Superintendent of Maintenance is responsible for assisting with the facility, revenue vehicles, and equipment maintenance including repairing of buses with diesel engines; overseeing all maintenance activities of employees on three shifts, seven days a week. Essential functions include:
- Using the Oracle Maintenance System to schedule repairs, ensuring all work is done within Pace policies, procedures, and standards.
- Monitoring the quality of work, productivity, and attendance;
- Instructing and training employees while providing technical expertise to assist and support staff.
- Handle all necessary reports and diagnosing bus problems.
- Overseeing the facility to ensure it is functional, safe, and secure handling grievances and promoting positive labor relations.
- Ensuring vehicle availability for AM and PM pullouts.
- Scheduling proper staffing for preventative maintenance, other maintenance, and repairs.
- Assisting with maintenance budgets and staffing planning, reviewing purchasing costs and stockroom activities.
- Working with vendors on warranties and repairs, locating and ordering replacement parts.
- Reviewing timecards and timesheets.
- Scheduling and planning facility improvements.
- Reviewing work orders and filling in for Foremen.
- performing other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Age:
21+
Education:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalency, technical school certification in automotive/diesel, and/or complete Pace's mechanic training program, an associate degree or bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience:
Must have at least two years supervisory and/or management experience in an exempt position. Must have a good work record with excellent attendance. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to read blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
Certifications:
Must have a Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and passenger endorsements and must have or be able to obtain a valid Class "A" CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements, a DOT Medical Examiners Certificate, ASE, EPA 608 and 609, UST A, B, and C, and forklift certifications. Must have at least five years prior experience with diesel/gas vehicle maintenance and repair, and technical training to include: diesel and gas engines, electrical, suspension, and hydraulic systems, DOT regulations, and preventive maintenance.
Proficiencies:
Must have and demonstrate good teambuilding and interpersonal skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suites applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and with the Oracle Maintenance System. Must be adept with internet research.
Physical Requirements:
This position entails walking, climbing ladders, and lifting and/or moving heavy equipment (approximately 75+ pounds)
This is a safety sensitive position.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment where the candidate may sit for an extended period of time and type on a computer; in garage setting with exposure to loud noises and noxious odors; and outdoors with exposure to inclement weather conditions. The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week.
This position is not eligible for hybrid schedule or telecommuting.
Salary:
Full Salary Range: $70,902 – 148,969
Midpoint: $109,936
Starting Salary: $90,419 – 109,936
