Job Description:
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Transportation, or designate, is responsible for supervising all field operations. Essential duties include:
- investigating accidents, passenger incidents, vehicle breakdowns and monitoring the performance of Bus Operators;
- conducting continuous checks on schedules, routes, passenger loads and boarding, and road conditions to ensure Bus Operators adhere to Pace rules and schedules;
- assisting and instructing Bus Operators on maintaining service in emergency situations;
- performing Dispatch duties as needed; and
- performing other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Age:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Education:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalency
Experience:
Must have at least 3 years of transportation experience with extensive knowledge of the RTA transit system and Pace’s service area.
Licenses/Certifications:
Must have a valid Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or equivalent and a clean driving record.
Proficiencies:
Must have the ability to effectively supervise Bus Operators. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to make quick and accurate decisions. Must have a good work history.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, and capable of lifting 75 pounds to waist height, maintaining and carrying that weight for a minimum of ten feet.
This position is safety sensitive.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors where the employee may be exposed to loud noises and/or inclement weather. The performance of these duties may be required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
This position is not eligible for a hybrid work schedule or telecommuting.
Salary:
Starting salary - $40.45/hr

This position is subject to the terms of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
