Upcoming Public Hearings

Public Hearings on the Proposed
Implementation of the Pulse Milwaukee Line and
Reduction of Service on Route 270 -- Milwaukee Avenue

Notice is hereby given that Pace, the Suburban Bus Division of the Regional Transportation Authority, will hold public hearings on the proposed:

1) Implementation of the Pulse Milwaukee Line:

Pulse is a rapid transit service proposed on Milwaukee Avenue which will provide fast, frequent, limited-stop express bus service between the Jefferson Park Transit Center in Chicago and Golf Mill Shopping Center in Niles. Pulse Stations will be located along Milwaukee Avenue at the following locations: Golf Mill Shopping Center, Dempster, Main, Oakton, Harlem, Touhy, Devon, Austin, Central, Jefferson Park Transit Center.

Pulse stations include upgraded passenger amenities such as heated shelters, pavement snowmelt systems, bicycle racks, trash receptacles, and a vertical station marker with real-time bus arrival information. Pulse service will only operate to new stations. These stations are strategically located to serve most of the current Pace bus riders along the Milwaukee Avenue corridor.

Additionally, the Pulse Milwaukee Line is proposed to improve the frequency and hours of service on Milwaukee Avenue. Pulse stations will also be served by local Route 270 -- Milwaukee Avenue service and at some stations by CTA and Niles Free Bus routes.

2) Reduction of Service on Route 270 - Milwaukee Avenue:

Route 270 will continue to operate weekday, Saturday, and Sunday service between the Jefferson Park Transit Center and Golf Mill Shopping Center. Route 270 'B' trips that operate select weekday trips via Sanders-Willow-Pfingsten are proposed to be eliminated. On weekdays and Saturday, certain Route 270 trips will continue to operate between the Jefferson Park Transit Center and Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview.

However, given the proposed increased frequency and hours of service on the Pulse Milwaukee line, Pace is proposing a service reduction on Route 270 (see below).
