Under the direction of the Section Manager, Facilities Maintenance, ensures Pace's compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental rules and regulations; researches and interprets environmental regulations; manages and updates environmental policies; performs environmental inspections; monitors and manages environmental contracts, consultants, and contractors; monitors underground storage tank leak detection systems; on call 24/7 to respond to environmental incidents; writes technical specifications; reviews, prepares, and files environmental reports and documents; assists garage staff with environmental compliance; oversees annual OSFM required testing for UST systems; and performs other duties as assigned and required.
Qualified candidate must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record and a bachelor's degree in science or related field or equivalent experience; must be a certified hazardous materials manager; must be a certified hazardous materials manager and a licensed IDPH asbestos building inspector or be able to obtain said certification and license within nine months from the date of hire; must have operator A/B/C UST certification or obtain same within nine months from the date of hire; and must have three to five years previous experience in environmental consulting, environmental inspection and government compliance, or equivalent experience. Must have a working knowledge of Veeder-Root tank monitoring system. Must be proficient in Microsoft office suites and other applications as required by job functions. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate excellent research, reading comprehension, and technical writing skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment but travel to other Pace facilities and work outdoors, in confined spaces, and garage environments is also required. This position entails lifting of more than 100 pounds at times.
