Under the direction of the Superintendent of Maintenance, or designate, is responsible for supervising the vehicle repair and maintenance activities of employees on their shift; assigning work to employees utilizing Oracle; reviewing work orders for time and material used; monitoring attendance; accepting road calls; giving instruction and on-the-job training to mechanics; updating and maintaining vehicle repair logs; handling all necessary reports; and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidate must be at least 21 years of age; possess a High School Diploma or GED and a valid class "B" Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsements and a good driving record; have or be able to obtain a valid Class "A" commercial driver's license, a/c certifications are preferred; have at least five years diesel/gas maintenance and repair experience and/or technical training to include diesel engines, bus electrical, suspension and hydraulic systems, and DOT regulations; must have supervisory experience; pass the Foreman exam; be able to read/follow blueprint, schematics and maintenance manuals; possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; be proficient with Microsoft Windows applications; and have a good work history. The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night, any day and night of the week. Work is performed in an office environment, garage and outdoors with frequent exposure to loud noises and fumes. This position requires a lot of walking and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and to lift up to and more than 100 pounds sometimes. This is a safety sensitive position.
