Job Description:
Under the direction of the Department Manager, Procurement, or designee, is responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services including: bus parts, general building services, IT equipment (hardware and software) and support, office and capital equipment, surplus property disposal, facility renovation projects, and consulting and professional service in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and Pace policies. Responsibilities also include facilitating the RFP process and contract negotiations, assisting users with contract administration issues, developing scopes of work, conducting cost and/or price analyses, creating purchase orders and bid documents, preparing documents to present to management and the Pace Board of Directors, and performing other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidate must a have bachelor's degree in business or related discipline plus two or more years of procurement and/or contracting experience or a combination of related experience and procurement training, prior government procurement/contracting experience is preferred. Must have demonstrated intermediate level proficiency with internet research, Microsoft Suites applications including Outlook, Word and Excel, and with ERP systems such as Oracle and People Soft. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and be able to successfully work on numerous projects simultaneously and efficiently in order to meet project deadlines. Must have a demonstrated aptitude for mathematics. Must demonstrate excellent reading comprehension and verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Must be able to work in a professional office environment with the majority of the workday consisting of computer work and must be able to lift up to 10 pounds. This position is subject to the provisions set forth in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 ( c ) of the State Officials and Employee Ethics Act.
