Demand-Response ServicePace presently operates two types of "paratransit" or demand-response service. To use this mode of transportation, customers call the provider and schedule a pick up time at their home for the next day.
![]() Demand Response utilizes cost efficient vans and smaller buses.
The first type of paratransit service, Pace Dial-a-Ride, is usually a joint partnership between Pace and a township or municipality. These services usually offer trips to residents who travel within their own communities.
The second type of demand-response service is ADA paratransit service, and is required by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. Only those persons registered with the Regional Transportation Authority are eligible to schedule trips, and these passengers must call to schedule a ride 24 hours in advance.
![]() ADA Paratransit specializes in providing access to all citizens.
The Vision 2020 plan seeks to expand the eligibility of these demand-response services. The result will be more freedom to take door-to-door trips where you need to go, even between cities or counties. All portions of the six-county suburban area will be covered by demand-response service. |
