Pace Federal Project Requests

Cermak Road Bus Rapid Transit Project

PROJECT: This project creates a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor on Cermak Road from the 54th/Cermak CTA Blue Line station to Danada Square in Wheaton. The corridor provides job access to the employment-rich areas of North Riverside, Oakbrook, Yorktown and Danada Square. It is part of an expansive network of TSP routes throughout the suburban area of northeastern Illinois on arterial streets.

In addition to TSP, the Cermak Road BRT project calls for dedicated lanes, “queue jump” lanes, enhanced bus shelters and improvements in pedestrian and bicycle access.

FUNDING: Pace received an earmark for the Cermak Road BRT project for $1,250,000 that can be used for transit signal priority, and the project was authorized to receive future additional federal funding for BRT infrastructure work.

REQUEST MADE TO:

  • Senator Barack Obama (D-Illinois)
  • Congressman Danny Davis (D-Chicago)

US Flag Update:

Included in the SAFETEA-LU Bill!

Thank You, Senator Obama and Congressman Davis!
