Notice: Lake County Restructuring Initiative
Round Lake Area Call-n-Ride, and Vernon Hills - Mundelein Call-n-Ride
Pace Call-n-Rides are easy to use.
To use a Call-n-Ride, first make sure your pick-up and drop-off locations are within the Call-n-Ride zone. Then call the
designated phone number to make a reservation at least one hour in advance of your desired pick up time.
Maps, phone numbers and hours of operation are available on each Call-n-Ride’s schedule.
The driver will inform you of your expected pick-up time. Please be ready at least fifteen minutes before your scheduled
pick-up time. Trip reservations are granted on a first come, first served basis.
If your call is not answered, leave a voicemail with your call-back number and you will be called back within one hour. Please
do not call or leave messages before or after the services hours of operation. These calls will not be returned.
The last same-day reservation is taken one hour before the service ends for the day. For trips during the first hour of operation,
please call the day before. Reservations are accepted up to 24 hours in advance. Recurring trips (for example, every Tuesday
at 2pm) may be scheduled as a subscription trip if the desired time slot is available.
Pace Call-n-Rides are affordable.
The fare for the Call-n-Ride service is $1.75 per one-way ride. Exact fare is required; the driver does not make change.
Cash and Ventra are accepted.
Transfers to and from Pace fixed route bus service are available. Please ask your Call-n-Ride operator. Beginning December
15, 2013*, there will be no transfers available to riders paying with cash. Please use a Ventra card to take advantage of transfers.
Reduced fares and free rides are offered to those with RTA Reduced Fare or Ride Free permits. Free rides are also offered
to children under 7 (maximum two children per fare paying adult), law enforcement officers and firefighters in full uniform
or presenting a badge, and active duty military personnel in uniform.
Passes and tickets may be purchased online at ventrachicago.com or at an authorized sales center. Sales center locations
may be found at ventrachicago.com or by calling 1-877-NOW-VENTRA (1-877-669-8368).
Pick-ups and drop-offs will take place in the most efficient order geographically. Drivers may combine individual trips to
create shared rides. Other passengers’ destinations may not be directly in line with yours, so your patience is requested as
the driver attempts to serve all destinations in a logical manner.
If you make a reservation but later determine that you need to cancel, please do so immediately. Drivers record passengers
who reserve a trip but are not available for pick-up at the assigned time. Passengers who are recorded as “no-shows” multiple
times may be prohibited from using the service in the future.
Phase One: Routes 272, 563, 564, 565, 568, 569, 570, 571, 572 begin Lake County Restructuring Initiative changes.
With the increase of activity occurring in the Central Lake County region, Pace will implement a new transit structure in
order to provide better and more reliable service to residents and businesses in the area.
The goal of this project is to increase frequency on routes that are experiencing overcrowding, improve our on-time performance,
and increase connectivity in west-central Lake County and new timed connections at the College of Lake County.
Because of the magnitude of changes pertaining to this project, the completed restructuring will be implemented in two phases:
Phase 1 will be implemented on December 22, 2013, and Phase 2 will be implemented in March, 2014.
The following routes will experience Phase I changes: 272, 563, 564, 565, 568, 569, 570, 571, 572, the Round Lake Area Call-n-Ride,
and the Vernon Hills - Mundelein Call-n-Ride.
A new Downtown Waukegan Posted Stops policy will also be implemented at designated boarding and alighting locations.
A brief overview of the Lake County Route changes is now on display inside the buses and is also
