Restructuring initiatives have been completed or are underway in Elgin, Lake County, the South Halsted Street Corridor, the North Shore area, the Fox Valley and Southwest DuPage County area, the North Central Service area, and South Cook County – Will County. These initiatives resulted in the restructuring of many routes. Pace continues to restructure bus service and conduct research and planning initiatives, and Pace is in the midst of several restructuring projects.

The primary goal is to improve and increase service in an effort to make service faster, more effective, and more efficient, thereby improving the image of public transit as an alternative to the automobile.
