As part of our "blueprint for the future" Vision 2020,
Pace, embarked on a restructuring process through a number of initiatives
in the suburban Chicagoland region.
The Fox Valley Southwest DuPage Transit Initiative
targeted the principal communities of Aurora, Bolingbrook, Lisle, Naperville,
Warrenville, and Woodridge in DuPage, Kane, and Will Counties.
The initiative began in June, 2004. The purpose of the study
was to comprehensively evaluate current service and identify demand in determining
where people are and where they need to go. The initiative resulted in a
recommendation for restructured transit services that will be more efficient
and effective by emphasizing speed and availability. Our intent is to make
Pace services a viable transportation choice and an integral part of communities
regionwide.
Paramount to the success of the Fox Valley Southwest DuPage
Initiative was input and direction from stakeholders and the community at
large. The initiative included an extensive public outreach program so that
input, direction, and subsequent recommendations for the initiative are
community based. We contacted public officials, vested stakeholders, social
service agencies, educational institutions, businesses and the general public
to get input and guide the process through a number of public involvement
forums and advisory groups. In addition, regular meetings were held with
advisory groups, including a Technical Advisory Committee and a Community
Advisory Group.
The changes are to routes operating primarily in Aurora,
as well the introduction of a new route (529) serving Randall Road north
to Geneva.
Thank you for riding Pace.
